Encinitas, CA – Liquid Force, the premier manufacturer of wakeboarding products and apparel, has signed a deal with Drew Brophy to license artwork once again for their Trip wakeboard series.
Brophy and Liquid Force have collaborated on wakeboard graphics for almost fifteen years. They first joined forces in 1997, when Liquid Force rolled out the inaugural, revolutionary multi-fin wakeboard. They added Brophy’s bright, trippy graphics for a full effect and the first Trip wakeboard was born.
Liquid Force Founder, Jimmy Redmon, explained his decision to work with Brophy on the first Trip graphics, “Drew was creating art that no one else was. His style was so unique.”
Brophy liked that “Liquid Force wasn’t scared to use my wild artwork. They allowed me the freedom to create something bold!”
The original abstract painting created by Brophy for the 2011 graphics is 8’ long by 6’ tall. What makes the 2011 Trip series design so unique is that the artwork was designed to span over five boards and was utilized to embellish both the base and the top of the boards.
The 2011 Liquid Force Trip series is being released to retailers this fall. For more information, please head on over to liquidforce.com.
Son of the Sea, Inc., is the Master Licensor for Drew Brophy Properties and is dedicated to teaming up Drew Brophy’s artwork with licensees who produce quality lifestyle products. For more information, call 949-354-ART1, e-mail info@sonofthesea.com or log onto drewbrophy.com.

Wake Park Triple Crown Final Stop
Wake Park Triple Crown Final Stop
The WWA Monster Energy Triple Crown series concluded September 18th at Wake Nation in Cincinnati, Ohio. While it seemed Tom Fooshee would sweep everything after dominating the previous stops at Texas Ski Ranch and Kansas City Watersports, the final event had a surprise in store. It was Lior Sofer, all the way from Israel, who would be the first rider to dethrone Fooshee of the summer, and take home top honors.
It was Lior’s smooth and powerful air tricks, including a Raley 5, crow 5, front mobe and a backside 7 off the kicker that helped him move past Tom in the head-to-head semi final. Lior met another titan, Keith Lidberg, in the final heat, but after Keith wasn’t able to put together a perfect run, Lior earned the first victory of his wakeboard career and the US Cable National Championship title.
“Amazing,” Lior said, having trouble putting his emotions into words. “It’s an amazing feeling winning my first place in five years [of competing]. I've never been in this position. Don't know what to say. Thanks to my sponsors, my friends, Ten-80, Monster, Alliance and everyone who put on this event.”
It was a perfect fall day in Ohio and the cable at Wake Nation was turning away all day. Prior to the Pro Wakeboard champion being crowned, National Champions were named in Girls and Boys, Junior Men, Masters, Open Men, Pro Women, Amateur and Professional wakeskating, as well as obstacles only.
In the Open men’s division, there was a sweep, with Chad Forrest topping every event in the series. And while air tricks took down Fooshee in the finals, in the obstacles only he was as untouchable as ever.
Other highlights included 12-year-old Taylor McCullough topping the women’s pro division with a wrapped KGB off the kicker. The Remote Wakeskate team showed up just in time to dominate the pro wakeskating round – Austin Pastura and Yan Lecomte taking 1st and 2nd respectively. Rounding out the podium was Collin Haas, the only wakeskater to make it to all three stops of the tour.
The best part of the Triple Crown series however, is it’s more than just a competition. In between heats, fans and riders alike were able to ride for nearly three hours over the course of the day. There was also entertainment in the form of a DJ and several bands, including The Lions Rampet, who rocked the main stage for nearly two hours.
The final award of the day crowned the overall champion, and with two firsts and a second, Tom Fooshee walked away top dog. “I’ve been in the cable wakeboarding scene for awhile now and this series is exactly what we’ve been waiting for,” he said. “Thanks Alliance, Monster, Ten-80, Liquid Force, Wake Nation and everyone for putting on a great event!”
The Tigé Tour is back and bigger and better than ever with the 2011 Monster Energy Tigé Tour towed by Tigé Boats.
The Tigé Tour is a grassroots wakeboarding tour which gives anyone and everyone the chance to ride behind the massive Tigé RZ2 Monster Energy boat and demo the latest gear from Liquid Force and RipCurl.
Participants will receive expert coaching from ProWake Academy's John Henson with special appearances at selected stops from Team Tigé pros Daniel Watkins, Scotty Broome and Dylan Prideaux.
You will get three 20-minute sets per lesson plus lunch, a gift pack and all of the Monster Energy you can drink! Plus, you will get your own section in the video from your stop and a professional photographer will be providing your best shots of the day on Facebook for you to have for free! With a maximum of seven riders per day, your time on the water will be maximized and you will learn a bag of new tricks.
It doesn't matter whether you fancy yourself a good wakeboarder or have never done it before, our expert coaching, expert equipment and fun and relaxed enviornment will mean you will come away from your lesson having progressed your riding to brand new heights.
Spaces are limited, so book now and secure your spot! Book your mates in at the same time if you all want to wakeboard together on the same day (which is a great day out)! Check out details at ProWake.com.au.

Joey Meddock Wins Two Photography Awards
Joey Meddock Wins Two Photography Awards
ORLANDO, FL. -- Joey Meddock, world renowned action-sports photographer, was recently named “Photographer Of The Year” by Transworld Wakeboarding, a division of Bonnier Corporation, at this year’s Wake Awards. He was also awarded, "Photograph Of The Year."
Earlier this month, Transworld Wakeboarding presented the 5th Annual Wake Awards as part of Surf Expo, held at the Orange County Convention Center. Each year industry leaders, professional athletes and sponsors gather to celebrate the accomplishments of its participants. This year, the Wake Awards were attended by over 600.
“Photographer of the Year” is awarded to someone who captured innovative, creative and inspiring images on a consistent basis all year, including cover shots, editorial exposure, advertisements and catalogs. Meddock receives the honor for the second time, also winning in 2007. "Winning this award again was much tougher than a few years ago! The community of lensmen has grown quickly since then, challenging my creative side to the max. It's nice to be recognized among the great talent out there," stated Meddock.
Additionally, his photograph of wake legend Shaun Murray, which appeared on the cover of the March 2010 issue of Wakeboarding Magazine, was the image selected as the "Photograph Of The Year”. "Taking home two awards in one night was a total shock," Meddock added. "Murray had the vision for that shot, not me. He came up with the idea and lined it all up, I just had to get the right angle on it…he deserves a lot of credit too."
Joey Meddock resides in Orlando Florida and is an acclaimed photographer and entrepreneur. He has traveled extensively around the world, capturing action-sports, landscapes, art, and the life around us. Meddock has shot for clients such as Nike, Billabong, Red Bull, Fox Racing, Liquid Force, Oakley, Jet Pilot, and Mastercraft Boats. His work has been seen in various world-wide publications including ESPN Magazine, Sports Illustrated Kids, The Standerd Quarterly, SBC Canada, Wake Australia and Transworld Wakeboarding.

Malibu Boats Wins Over Whole Fam w/ 247 LSV
Malibu Boats Wins Over Whole Fam w/ 247 LSV
Malibu Boats unveils the all-new 2011 Sunscape 247 Luxury Sport-V
(Merced, CA) – There’s no better example of Malibu Boats ground-breaking 2011 model year than the new Sunscape 247 LSV. The new look is only the beginning. The 247 LSV offers innovative control and comfort inside the boat with Malibu Touch Command (MTC) and a new transom seating area. Malibu performance excels in this 24-footer with a digitally shaped bottom for precise handling, the L96 410hp engine for specifically calibrated power and the Shift by Wire Throttle system for fingertip control. As your family grows this boat accommodates them, their stuff and their water sports preferences with water ski and wakeboard wakes made to satisfy all skill levels. The truth is on the water. Test-drive a 247 LSV today!
You might expect a 24-foot 7-inch luxury water sports boat with room for 17 to be a challenge to handle: not if it’s a Malibu. Precise electronic throttle and shift join fingertip steering for effortless flat turning. Built on a hull optimized for a smooth ride and precision handling, the Sunscape 247 is as nimble as it is a wake maker.
Whether your brand of wake is of the flat, soft variety or you prefer huge, rampy water for launching, the 247 LSV can accommodate. The hull design is three-pronged. It’s built for handling, ride and versatile water sports wakes. At skiing speeds the water behind the boat flattens creating a free-skier’s paradise. At wakeboarding speeds the 247 LSV displaces more water and creates wakes that beg to be ridden. Add a boatload of Malibu-exclusive wake enhancement like the Patented Power Wedge and sub-floor hard tank ballast to get even higher.
If you really want to ride, add the optional Illusion G3 wakeboard tower with weightless fold-down. Made in-house by Malibu Boats, this wakeboard boat accessory comes standard with a set of swivel combo fork board racks to accommodate surf and wakeboards.
Dash.
The 2011 dash looks bad in a good way! You’ve never seen a dash like the one you’ll find in a 2011 Sunscape 247 LSV. Two-tone, hand-wrapped and studded in stainless steel the Malibu Boats dash is an extra step that is noticeably worth it. Not only does Malibu carry their high performance look through to the interior, function follows.
The MTC projective capacitive touch screen combined with the new Italian-made Isotta Vista Steering Wheel, the available MaliView Dash System and the optional Rockford Fosgate Stereo touch pad are just a few of the heroes on this dash. Now consider the functionality they deliver and it’s almost unbelievable. The dash offers intuitive control over nearly all of the boat’s functions with Malibu first’s like Rider Presets combining this control in customizable rider profiles. MaliView and the Rockford Fosgate Sound System have been upgraded for 2011 to include USB video playback and increased iPod/iPhone control. Just when you think boat design has been taken as far as it can go, Malibu Boats does it one better.
Malibu Touch Command.
The new Malibu Touch Command (MTC) is amazing on so many different levels; what it is, what it does and the fact that it is standard on all Sunscapes including the new 247 LSV. Made with Projective Capacitive Touch Technology typically reserved for high-end personal digital devices, you won’t find a feature like MTC in a high performance car let alone anywhere else in the boating industry. Malibu Boats is way ahead of the game with touch-sensitive switching based on intuitive hi-res graphical menus of the boat’s functions. Command ballast control, Wedge adjustment, interior lighting, coded keyless ignition, available GPS navigation and more through Malibu Touch Command.
Ignition.
Forget the keys. Go ahead. You won’t need them in your 2011 Sunscape 247 LSV. All Malibu Sunscapes have keyless ignition standard. Type in your code; touch the “Start Engine” icon and motor. No more worries about getting to the lake and forgetting the keys. Malibu’s got you covered.
Power. Because Malibu powers boats with standard engines that are built specific and anything but standard, the new L96 6.0L makes its home in the new 247 LSVs. With 410 horsepower this Indmar engine pulls every water sport you’re into with 400 foot-pounds of torque. Low-end power or top-end speed, the L96’s Variable Valve Timing (VVT) automatically adjusts giving you the absolute best performance in either situation. If you’re looking to upgrade your 247 power Malibu offers the Supercharged LSA 6.2L. This 550 horsepower engine tops Malibu’s list of engine options as the first production supercharged Gen-IV small block engine the marine industry has ever seen. With 545 ft-lb of torque the LSA doesn’t mess around.
Interior.
Malibu engineers created a cab-forward design to increase the lounge area by 30% more than any other boat in its class. And while a lot of attention has been paid to the common seating area of the Sunscape 247 LSV, the bow and new transom seating is just as comfortable and roomy as any other spot. The bow transforms into a playpen with the addition of the removable filler cushion. The new rear-facing transom seating provides a comfortable front row seat complete with convenient cup holders and more swimstep-accessible wet storage. The Sunscape 247 LSV is geared for family, but you’ll want to be seen and heard in it.
Available 8” Rockford Fosgate M2 full-range speakers add the perfect amount of punch to the Sunscape 247 LSV. Exclusive to the new 247 LSV interior, these 8" speakers are UV and moisture-resistant for great performance in harsh marine environments. Great sound, good looks and an element hardy design make them irresistible.
Look.
Moving or still, the new body design of the Sunscape 247 LSV presents an aggressive shape with sharp lines. Eight color areas can be customized with 21 gel coat colors to make a Malibu boat that is all you. The leaned-back style of the MH4 windshield contributes to the impressive style. Custom designed and branded fresh air vents work with the new lines of the 247 to create a look as incredible as the boat itself. Add the available forward swept Illusion G3 wakeboard tower and your 247 LSV will have that unmistakable Malibu look even from a distance.

7th Annual Byerly Toe Jam - Wakeskating's Biggest Festival Draws Huge Turnout
Orlando, Fla. - Pro wakeskating climbed to another level on Saturday, September 11, as the world's top pro wakeskaters competed for the sport's most coveted title at the 7th Annual Byerly Toe Jam.
The prestige of the event was even higher this year with a huge crowd and Livestream webcast on O'Neill's Facebook page. Riders were also competing for the highest purse in the history of wakeskating at over $20,000. Contour Cameras stepped up this year, awarding each winner with a hands-free HD video camera and waterproof housing.
The field was narrowed down a week previous to the event and the Toe Jam always showcases every aspect of wakeskating. Eight riders qualified for the boat portion, eight for cable, twelve for PWC and twenty for the winch pool jam on Saturday night. This year, the Toe Jam provided a more festival-type atmosphere with an all-day schedule, free Rockstar energy drink, Chipolte catering and a banging live performance by Swamburger and DiViNCi that you can check out at solilla.com.
"It took a lot of work to get everything together," Scott Byerly said. "But it all came together and everybody ripped. It's always cool to see how far the sport gets pushed each year."
The biggest honor in wakeskating is to win the overall title, for the most points accumulated in all divisions. Reed Hansen and Grant Roberts were the only two that had qualified in all three categories. It was a constant battle as they moved all around the different sections of OWC throughout the day. Emad also offered up an electric skateboard for the overall winner in adition to the $5,000 at stake.
The day at OWC started out behind the Byerly Signature edition Nautique with a surprising start. Reed Hansen was knocked out during the first round by Stu Shinn. Stu has been able to put it together behind the boat all year and this time it was good enough to take the previous year's winner out of the game. As the riders dwindled down, it wound up with two roommates in the final. Brandon Thomas and Brian Grubb rode against each other for the boat title in a really close heat, but Grubb came out victorious and was the first winner of the day. Grant Roberts made it through the first round in the boat event, and had a lead over Reed Hansen going into the Cable event.
The cable event had a few upsets as well. French rider Leo Labadens and Bret Little got knocked out in the early rounds leaving the final between Rockstar team rider Nick Taylor and Reed Hansen. Hansen rode super well, but Nick threw down some super tech moves in the flats including regular and switch kickflips and a switch frontside flip. Reed would finish in 2nd place and Grant Roberts tied for 3rd. This left Grant in the overall title lead by just one placement going into the final event on the rails.
The Sea Doo pulled the event on the rails with 12 riders total. The first two rounds were head-to-head, then it went to a three-man final. After the first round had gone down, the two top riders in the overall title race met up in a head to head heat. Grant Roberts and Reed Hansen both went out and rode super well, but Reed edged out Grant by a pretty good margin. This left the overall race completely up to Reed Hansen. He went into the three man final having to get second or better to edge out Roberts for the overall Byerly Toe Jam win. Last off the dock, Reed was able to watch Yan Lecomte and Andrew Pastura and know exactly what he had to do to win. Reed had the eye of the tiger and went out and won the rail portion of the event. taking the overall Byerly Toe Jam title.
For the Nike 6.o Winch Jam under the lights pulled by the crew at Ridiculous Winches, Yan Lecomte back lipped the hubba ledge on his last pull to seal up the first place spot. Dieter Humpsch came in 2nd place with a front lip and Andrew Pastura in 3rd with a frontside 180 over the rail.
Scott Byerly would like to thank Rockstar Energy Drink and O’Neill for their undying support of the Toe Jam as well as Nike 6.0, Arnette, Nautiques, Contour, Sea Doo, Emad, Ridiculous Winches and Chipotle. “Without these guys, there would be no Toe Jam as we know it and a lot of them have been behind it since day one.”

That victory and the 2008 season was huge for Dallas as it was an amazing comeback from another much more serious injury. Dallas wore this rash guard jersey during all of her Malibu Open heats including the final round, where she shut the door on the competition. Enter for your chance to win this great piece of water sports memorabilia and a piece of wakeboarding history.

Axis Introduces Compact A20 for 2011
Axis Introduces Compact A20 for 2011
Axis Wake Research boat design meets performance and budget in a compact 20-foot package.
(Loudon, TN) – Axis Wake Research is now bringing their brand’s focus of simplicity, style and performance to market in a new 20-foot package. The new 2011 Axis A20 is designed for riders and families with room for 11 and versatile wakes that can morph from mellow to pro-level. Maintaining the look of the Axis A22, the new A20 adheres to the core values of this uncomplicated boat brand with a small stature for towing and size restricted lakes. The A20 offers convenient size, usable design and stylin’ performance for a price that comes in under budget.
The Size
At 20 feet long from bow to stern, the A20 is designed to be as convenient to tow and store as it is fun to drive and ride. The A20 is the perfect solution for families who ride on boat length-restricted lakes, garage their boat or tow with a mid-sized vehicle. The goal for the A20 is to provide as much interior room and wake performance as a much larger wakeboard boat in a more manageable package. Thanks to A20 hull design and a rider-centric interior layout, Axis Wake Research has succeeded in their quest to create a 20-foot boat that does not compromise convenience, comfort or performance.
The Wake
The Axis Wake Research Team modeled this 20-foot boat after the A22 to kick-up pro caliber wakes. An unweighted A20 has a very mellow and extremely stable wake, perfect for beginners and skiers. However, when you combine the standard Wakebox 800 Ballast System with the available Plug-N-Play ballast system and auto-set wedge, this wake will keep even pro riders amped.
Being the only standard hard-tank, sub-floor wake enhancement system available in the price-point class, the Wakebox is comprised of three hard ballast tanks mounted below the floor in both the rear and center of the boat, totaling 800 pounds. Opt for the Axis Plug N’ Play Ballast System and add up to 1300 pounds or more to your A20 in the form of custom designed Fly High sacks. The Plug N’ Play ballast fits nicely in the rear storage lockers and in the bow under the seat cushions, leaving room for storage in both areas. All locations can be filled and drained with switches on the dash. Looking for another 1000 pounds of displacement? Add the exclusive Axis Auto Set Wedge and you will bring your wake footprint to nearly 3100 pounds of displacement. All of this without compromising floor space and barely encroaching on your storage areas.
The Interior
The A20 has room for 11 with lounge seating covered in corrosion-resistant G&T Premium Grade 30 oz. Marine Vinyl. The under-seat storage can swallow all the gear and more. Under-seat storage lighting is available for function and chill factor in red, white or blue LED colors. The machined aluminum AXray kick panel offers enough visibility to keep track of your items along with an amazing look, especially when lit. The ballast-free rear storage area is unobstructed and offers an above engine storage bin to gently warm those chilly wakeboarding accessories like wet suits, rash guards and life vests.
Seating is customizable for a variety of riding situations and there is plenty of room for all your friends and family. The rear seat is branded as SkyBox seating and gives passengers VIP treatment with a removable bench that can be positioned anywhere in the center of the lounge. Axis also designed the available ChillAX convertible walk-through seat to accommodate another wake sport spectator and provide a back rest for an additional passenger in the bow. Studded with stainless bead-blasted grab handles, available MTX speakers, textured vinyl, colored accents and a laser-cut Axis badge, the side panel is something you would expect to see in a much more expensive boat. The TriAX Bow is wide enough for a group not just a couple and its open lounge style is the ultimate in comfort. Even the transom has convenience and style built-in with a rider staging seat, tooled in.
The Driver Experience
The Helm of the A20 welcomes a driver and as many as four observers with comfortable seating. The oversized driver’s seat is equipped with dual density foam and the dash ergonomically designed for perfect driver control.
At the dash, the Axis gauges include scrolling digital screens displaying everything from fuel to depth to cruise control functions. Three-stage rocker switches command nearly every boat system with ease. The standard power plant provides 335 horses of fuel-injected power. Axis offers the 400 horsepower Raptor engine for those riders that love to show some muscle. Both engines are available with a saltwater package. The A20 extends driver control with rack and pinion steering and a phenomenal ride, even in rough-water.
The Look
The A20’s gel coat accents introduce accents of color to a sharp hull and deck design. The A20 has a customizable look. Choose from three gel coat layouts, Straight-up, Flip-side and the available Tricked-out scheme. You can even opt for a completely solid boat available in 18 different colors and 3 metal flake gel coats. Looking to turn a few more heads on the water, pull the trigger on the Vandall Edition Package. Complete with a custom Vandall wrap this special edition A20 is set-up the same way Axis Pro Team Rider Randall “The Vandall” Harris configures his Axis.
The aggressively styled bow finishes the tough look and adds another unique element to this price-point boat. The collapsible FatAX tower combines oversized 3-inch black powder coated aluminum tubing and billet aluminum bases for a one-of-kind rear sweeping wakeboard tower that is easy on the eyes. The FatAX tower is through-bolted to the deck with a backing plate for added strength. No corners cut, just pricing slashed. The Wingless MH Windshield accentuates the rugged simplicity of the A20 and allows the driver to dock easily without leaving the seat.
The Guarantee
All of this performance, accommodation and style is created with production practices and materials approved by the best selling water sports boat manufacturer in the world. Axis Wake Research is offering price-point segment-leading Limited Lifetime protection complete with a 3-year engine warranty including fuel and electrical systems and a 2-year bow to stern warranty, the second year covering parts only.
About Axis Wake Research
Axis Wake Research manufactures high performance, price point wakeboard boats with new levels of quality, performance, style and owner pride. Axis performance and customer satisfaction is unmatched in the price-point market thanks to aggressive grassroots research and development. These efforts revolve around the specific needs and wants of core riders and families alike. Or as the team at Axis Wake Research likes to say and the Axis name implies “We’re centered on you.”

2011 Malibu
2011 Malibu
Malibu Boats unveils new innovations in the form of 2011 models, features and options.
Merced, CA – 2011 might be Malibu Boats’ most groundbreaking model year to date. From subtle details to huge industry-altering developments, Malibu engineers have just kept pushing when it comes to their wakeboard and water ski boats. When others were throttling back Malibu was dropping the hammer on more performance, technology and innovation. The result is a pair of new water sports boats, new features that obsolete the word “standard” and new options that push Malibu boat customization past the limit.
Paul Singer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Malibu Boats, had this to say about the new model year introductions. "We're not going to lie, we like to keep everyone playing catch up, but our real joy comes from giving our customer our very best." Singer explained, "You see at some point, the force of innovation overtakes the laws of convention. In the 2010 Malibu line that point was near the center deck in the form of the G3 Tower. The first-ever forward swept tower received the first-ever gas assisted shocks for easy fold-down. In the 2011 Malibu line, that point is on the dash featuring the first ever 6.5" touch screen for control of a myriad of safety and performance systems. We call it MTC or Malibu Touch Command, but we think you will call it amazing."
New Wakesetter & Sunscape 247 LSV Malibu Boats put even more stretch into these limos with room for 17. The Wakestter and Sunscape 247 LSVs have been redesigned inside and out. A new helm offers the driver a performance car look and feel while the new transom seating adds another fun place to hangout with more swimstep accessible wet storage. Get customized for no extra charge choosing between the WetTek floor with snap-out carpet and the Mantex floor with hull-to-hull carpeting. Lined with more hand-covered parts, the new interior features LED-lit stainless emblems and has the ability to accept new optional 8” Rockford Fosgate Full-range speakers. A new MH2 frameless windshield and special fresh air vents work with the new lines of the 247's to create a look as incredible as their performance. Performance that kicks-up monstrous wakes at wakeboarding and wakesurfing speeds, gives you great recreational skiing at slalom speeds and handling that rivals a much smaller water sports boat.
New Malibu Touch Command (MTC) The new Malibu Touch Command (MTC) is amazing on so many different levels; what it is, what it does and the fact that it is standard on all Wakesetters and Sunscapes.
New Coded Keyless Ignition
Forget the keys. Go ahead. You won’t need them in a 2011 Malibu boat. All Malibu Wakesetter and Sunscape models have keyless ignition standard. Type in your code, touch the “Start Engine” icon and motor. No more worries about getting to the lake and forgetting the keys. Malibu’s got you covered.
New Dash & Components Performance aside, the 2011 dash looks bad in a good way! You’ve never seen a dash like the one you’ll find in a 2011 Malibu boat. The MTC projective capacitive touch screen combined with the new Italian-made Isotta Vista Steering Wheel, the available MaliView Dash System and Rockford Fosgate Stereo touch pad; let it all sink in. Now consider the functionality housed in this dash and it’s almost unbelievable. MaliView and the Rockford Fosgate Sound System have even been upgraded for 2011 to include USB video playback and increased iPod/iPhone control. Just when you think boat design has been taken as far as it can go, Malibu Boats does it one better.
New Power L96 & LSA
The new L96 6.0L (410 HP) pulls every water sport you’re into with 400 foot-pounds of torque. Low-end power or top-end speed, the L96’s Variable Valve Timing (VVT) automatically adjusts giving you the absolute best performance in either situation. And because Malibu powers boats with standard engines that are built specific and anything but standard, this one makes its home in the new 247 LSVs. The Supercharged LSA 6.2L (550 HP) tops Malibu’s list of engine options as the first production supercharged Gen-IV small block engine the marine industry has ever seen. With 545 ft-lb of torque the LSA doesn’t mess around and is available in all 23-247 foot Wakesetters and Sunscapes.
New White Illusion G3 Tower & Accessories
The G3 tower set 2010 on fire with insane popularity for durability, function and design. The Illusion G3 Gas Spring Assisted Tower follows the lines of a Malibu boat so well you can now get it in black or white. To finish the custom look, Malibu Titan Tower accessories like lights and speakers can be colored to match.
New Flo-cam Rear View Rider Camera System The Malibu Boats Flo-cam Rear View Rider Camera System pushes the limits of typical action sports cameras way outside the box. This smooth swiveling camera follows the athlete in tow with fluid motion. The Flo-cam can be adjusted to your water sport of choice and is viewable live or recorded through the MaliView Dash System. Captured footage is easily editable and the camera itself can be used in any number of action sports situations thanks to its multi-dimensional design. Watch yourself reach new heights behind a 2011 Malibu boat.
Visit your local Malibu Boats dealer to experience the 2011 models, features and options that are pushing limits in the wakeboard and ski boat industry.

ORLANDO, FLA (July 29, 2010) — Earlier this week, a group of Nautique employees travelled internationally for four days to spend a portion of their summer helping several impoverished families in Guatemala.
Outside of Guatemala City about 45 minutes, Nautique employees served a community whose homes were built on abandoned railroad tracks. Nautique employees provided materials and manual labor to build bunk beds from scratch. The team were guests at the community’s local church service on Sunday and also made, and distributed, gift bags for 150 of the community’s children.
This year’s trip to Guatemala follows three other international service trips the company’s employees have taken since 2007. On previous trips the company’s employees travelled (twice) to Mexico to build homes for needy families and also once travelled to Nicaragua to serve in a shelter for homeless teenage mothers and their children.
Nautique’s Board Chairman, Ken Meloon, who travelled with the group to Guatemala, said, “Serving in Guatemala with the Nautique team was an incredible experience. I am very proud of the service culture that has developed at the company my grandfather founded!”
“Guatemala was an amazing experience for everyone and this trip demonstrates the incredible kindness and service culture of our Nautique employees,” stated Nautique President/CEO Bill Yeargin. “I am thankful to be a part of a team that is not only committed to building the world’s best boats, but also committed to helping those less fortunate,” Yeargin added.

Rio Linda teen trains hard to stay on top of water-skiing world
WRITTEN BY MATT KAWAHARA
FRIDAY, 23 JULY 2010 16:10
A part of Makayla Haw wants nothing more than to spend time this summer with her friends, going to the movies and the mall and on day trips.
The other part knows that if the 16-year-old wants to remain one of the world's top junior water-skiers, she must spend her free time training in the man-made lakes behind her Rio Linda home. That's the part that usually wins.
"I love the sport way too much to quit," she said. Right now, she's at the pinnacle.
Haw is the world's top-ranked water-skier for her age group in the slalom – similar to the Olympic skiing event – and No. 3 in the jump.
She was featured on Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" page in the magazine's July 19 issue. From Aug. 5-8, she will represent the United States at the 2010 Water Ski Junior Worlds in Brescia, Italy.
"I'm gonna be stressed out that week," she said. Not that that's out of the ordinary.
Haw's passion for water-skiing is like an addiction, she said. She likes the individual aspect of the sport because – water and weather conditions aside – she controls her fate. She feels at home in the competitive water-skiing community, which is like a big family.
And the jump event, in particular, is just cool. "It's like you're flying," she said. "No other sport is like it."
Her dedication requires her to make some social sacrifices. When she's not at school, Haw spends nearly all her time on the water. Homework doesn't always get finished. She doesn't go out with friends often and never sleeps over at their houses.
Even video games don't provide a break – Wii skiing usually becomes a battle with her father and coach, John Haw.
Haw lights the competitive fire under his daughter, the family said. Haw's mom, Kay Lee Clemons-Haw, is the "behind-the-scenes girl," coordinating trips and promoting her daughter's name.
The Haw family has owned the Rio Linda home since the late '90s, but lived in San Mateo until three years ago. When Haw was younger, she commuted with her dad to Rio Linda weekdays after school. She did a few sets on the water, did her homework on the dock and then drove back to the Bay Area at night.
After she finished seventh grade, the family moved to Rio Linda permanently – as much to give Haw some "normalcy" as to make training more practical, said her mom.
Athletes who dedicate themselves to excelling at a sport, though, are "never going to be 'normal' as far as social life," said Haw 's coach and mentor, Rhoni Barton-Bischoff.
"Most athletes are OK with giving up some (social opportunities), because you're gaining something," said Barton-Bischoff, who turned pro herself at 16 and is now 34.
"Makayla's social," she said. "Just like any athlete, she's going to give up a lot. But no teenage girl likes to think she's giving up everything."
This year water-skiing has already taken Haw to Florida, Australia, Texas, Florida again, Georgia and Ohio. She's finishing up a trip to Idaho for the western regionals and, after taking a breather at home, goes to Italy and then Chicago.
She'll get back from Chicago two days before school starts.
At the beginning of every new year, Haw tries to picture what her water-skiing year is going to be like. This year, she started training Jan. 1 – toughing out the cold and often rainy conditions.
"I had a feeling it would be a good year," she said.
It has been. Haw won the slalom champion title at the Moomba Masters in Australia, earned a spot on the U.S. Junior Water Ski Team for the Italy trip and secured her No. 1 world ranking.
"That's pretty big," she said. "Everybody in the world, they're trying to beat me. It's a happy place, but you've got to stay on your toes."
That means spending long days doing run after run in her backyard – worth it, she said.
"I would not trade anything," Haw said. "No one ever has this."

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The top professional wakeboarders from throughout the globe hit the waters of Prospect Lake today for the opening rounds of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour stop in Colorado Springs. The event, which concludes tomorrow, Saturday, July 24, at Memorial Park, opened with preliminary rounds for the Pro Men and Jr. Pro Men’s divisions.
While many big-name riders were on-site today for the Pro Men’s division qualifying round; all eyes were on the return of former King of Wake and Colorado native Tino Santori, as he made his first Pro Tour appearance in over a year.
“It feels great to back on Tour, competing against these guys,” said Santori. “It’s difficult being away from the Tour, but I’m just stoked to be riding today and in my home state.”
Santori was first off the dock in his four-man heat, going up against Kirby Liesmann, Josh Palma and four-time X Games gold medalist Danny Harf. Santori had a solid run and the support of a hometown crowd, but Palma and Harf proved to be too much for the former two-time national champion, knocking him out of the contest.
“The level of riding is insane here; everyone has stepped up their riding so much,” said Santori. “I didn’t do as well as I hoped for, but I had fun out there and that’s all I can ask for.”
Palma and Harf advance to tomorrow’s Pro Men quarterfinals along with 18 other pros. The quarterfinals will begin at 11:30 a.m.
In the Jr. Pro Men’s division, 19 amateur rippers hit the water today for their quarterfinal round of action in Colorado Springs. Only the top two riders from each of the five quarterfinal heats advanced, narrowing the field of riders down to 10 for tomorrow’s semifinals.
Among the 10 semifinalists is 16-year-old Daniel Powers, who posted a perfect score of 100 points during his quarterfinal run today. Powers and the rest of the Jr. Pro Men semifinalists will take to the water tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., following the Pro Men’s quarterfinals.
The Pro Tour wraps up its stop in Colorado Springs tomorrow, Saturday, July 24, with the ticketed event starting at 11:30 a.m. and the Main Event running from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $10 (general admission), $5 (ages 6-12) or free (ages 5 and under).
The Main Event features high-energy athlete introductions, leading into the Pro Men finals. It also includes the Pro Tour’s new double up contest and big-air challenge. The two new competitions are designed to feature select athletes performing exciting and innovative new tricks that aren’t normally attempted in a traditional contest setting.
In addition to all the action on the water; on land, fans will also enjoy plenty of great food and music, athlete autograph signings, chances to win freebies, and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores for water-sports equipment including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions.

We have developed this new program in a way that allows us to focus on our core competency while still creating excitement for the Axis Wake Brand through high quality, stylish apparel. We have developed a clothing line that will give customers something to be proud to wear. In conjunction, we’ve created the Axis Ink site to bring the ideas for styling straight out of the minds of the wake market.“

Axis Ink will be an online location, which allows customers and wake enthusiasts to post videos, pictures, and submit artwork for use in the Axis Wake apparel line and even participate in the boat graphic designs for new Model Years. McCall went on to say, “We plan to launch Axis Ink in the coming months and we are determined to prove, in everything we do from apparel to boat design, that Axis Wake Research is directed by our customers and the ideas of the wake market.” Further details on Axis Ink will surface soon.

WakeWorld Haunting Riders
WakeWorld Haunting Riders with New Wakeboard Boat
WakeWorld.com has chosen an all-white Malibu Boats 2010 Wakesetter VLX, now known as "The Ghost," for their official towboat
WakeWorld.com's Official Towboat- 2010 Wakesetter VLX
I was blown away before the cover even came off!
Merced, CA (Vocus) October 07, 2009
WakeWorld Nation calls it "The Ghost," but this new 2010 Malibu Wakesetter VLX is no apparition. It is a real wake-making machine and once again the official tow boat for wakeboarding's longest running online magazine. WakeWorld.com just recently chose Malibu Boats as their official wakeboard boat for the 5th consecutive year. Already creating a posting frenzy on WakeWorld.com's discussion board, this Wakesetter VLX will be featured on the web site in extreme detail over the next year. Viewers can learn all about Malibu's flagship wakeboard boat online as well as check it out on the waters of So Cal.
They call it "The Ghost" because the WakeWorld.com Malibu VLX is all white. That and because it haunts the waters of Southern California with big scary customizable wakes in addition to a boatload of new 2010 Malibu innovations. This year's WakeWorld.com VLX rocks a weightless fold-down Illusion G3 tower with four new Titan Slide-off Spinner Racks, a new color-matched fiberglass floor with snap-out carpet, new Wakesetter hull graphics, the new MaliView 6.5" Dash System with video and the protection of Malibu Boats Salt Water Package, just to name a few features. The WakeWorld.com boat appears to be floating even in tow thanks to the loaded bright white Tandem Axle Salt Water Trailer built by Boatmate.
This is the 5th time in the last five years WakeWorld.com has chosen the Malibu Boats Wakesetter VLX as the site's official wakeboard boat. And according to Dave Williams, WakeWorld.com's Owner/Editor, this is why he continues to make Malibu Boats his choice. "Probably the biggest reason why I think this [Malibu Wakesetter VLX] is the best boat out there is the fact that you can flip a few switches or engage a Rider Preset and you've got a wake that's got a great shape and is more than big enough for 90% of the riders out there. The VLX is good to go right out of the box!"
WakeWorld.com Discussion, one of the most trafficked rider discussion boards online, was the first forum to publish photos of the site's new wakeboard boat. That should be expected, but the photos were posted before Williams had even seen his new boat. The images were posted by a WakeWorld.com subscriber. The VLX happened to make a few stops at other Malibu Boats Dealerships before arriving in So Cal. Photos were snapped, posted and the rave reviews began.
When Williams finally saw his new Wakesetter VLX in person this is how he reacted. "I was blown away before the cover even came off!" Williams explained, "Not only did the Boatmate trailer look unbelievable, but the hull has some great new angles that look really sharp." Williams went on, "Of course, once the cover came off and the tower went up, I was even more impressed."
WakeWorld.com has been online since 1996 and the site's content includes news, articles, interviews with pros and local riders, board and binding buyers guides, trick lists and tips, tournament info, rider event details, wakeboard school info, contests and giveaways and much more. WakeWorld.com hosts over 150,000 visitors per month and is growing along with big wake water sports.
If you're not in a position to witness the WakeWorld.com Ghost on the water in Southern California take a trip to your local Malibu Boats Dealer to check out the 2010 Wakesetter VLX in person.
About Malibu Boats: Build the best boat possible, give boat owners the best value and enjoy the workplace. Since Malibu Boats' inception in 1982 the mission has been this simple. On the journey from building 100 custom ski boats a year in a small shop, to 19 Boat of the Year Awards and their standing as the world's number one selling wakeboard and water ski boats, Malibu has become an exemplary American boat company.
One of WakeWorld's long-time community members, Chris Anthony, founder of Epic Wake Boats and co-founder of Aptera, is continuing to expand his electric vehicle reach. He has enterered into a partnership with Caddo Manufacturing in Vivian, Louisiana to not only make Epic's electric boats, but also expand into into electric land vehicles. The San Diego-based CEO showed up in the Northeast corner of Louisiana last week with prototypes of its first two land vehicles, a topless road-going three-wheeler with seating for two called the Torq and an off-road ATV named the Amp.
The partnership will create about 200 immediate jobs in the Vivian area in order to fill current orders and could create up to 500 positions altogether. Anyone interested in these jobs should stop by Caddo Manufacturing to apply.
As for the two new vehicles, the preliminary specs look quite promising. Both use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePo4) battery packs developed by Flux Power, Anthony's other company. The Torq is said to offer 200 horsepower and should weigh 1,700 lbs with a pack holding between 24 and 30 kWh of energy. Performance figures are not yet available but it looks capable of dishing out a pretty wild ride – maybe it's those Cadillac-reminiscent headlight clusters.
The Amp looks even more aggro. It features a motor that can put out 54 hp, giving it a top speed just north of 50 miles per hour. Its 14.4 kWh battery pack is said to give it about 60 miles of range. Impressively, it offers 10 inches of ground clearance, is independently suspended front and back and uses hydraulic disc brakes to slow down.
According to a new Epic website at evEpic.com, we should hear more about these machines this fall. If you want an early glimpse, take a look at the news coverage below.
Clifford, Butler and Hansen Win at Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard Nationals
Sparks, Nev. – Fans lined the shores of Sparks Marina today to catch the final rounds of action at the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships, presented by ROCKSTAR. Throughout the day riders in six different divisions hit the water to compete for national titles and invitations to represent the United States at the Wakeboard World Championships later this year.
The Pro Men’s division highlighted the event, with its five-man final. Defending titlist, Adam Errington, failed to advance past the semifinal round today, leaving the national title up for grabs for Danny Harf, Rusty Malinoski, Harley Clifford, Phillip Soven and Bryan Hutton.
All five pros threw down impressive runs, but top seed Harley Clifford made the biggest impact on the water to take home his first-ever Nationals win. Former national champions Phillip Soven and Danny Harf rounded out the Pro Men’s division podium, respectively.
“It feels awesome to win Nationals, it’s my first one and I’m stoked,” said Clifford. “Winning today helps me out a lot in the King of Wake and I can’t wait for the next contest.”
With today’s win Clifford now leads the King of Wake series with 460 points. Phillip Soven trails in second place with 425 points, while Rusty Malinoski rounds out the top three with 321 points. The Air Nautique WWA Nationals was the fifth stop in the eight-event King of Wake series.
In the Pro Women’s division, all eyes were on Emily Copeland Durham, as she made her first finals appearance in nearly two years. Copeland Durham had a fair finish in the six-woman final, taking fourth place, but it was former Queen of Wake Nicola Butler who took top honors at the Air Nautique WWA Nationals. Butler’s first-place finish today marks her first Nationals win. Two-time Nationals winner Amber Wing finished in second place, with Raimi Merritt taking third.
“I was feeling pretty sore all weekend, but I pushed through it and made it to finals,” said Butler. “It was worth the pain to ride today and come out with a win.”
Butler now leads the Queen of Wake series with 290 points. Merritt moves up to second place with 245 points and Wing rounds out the top three with 240 points. The Air Nautique WWA Nationals was the third stop in the five-event Queen of Wake series.
Pro wakeskater Reed Hansen successfully defended his national title today, taking down two former national champions in the process. Hansen’s first-place finish in the Pro Wakeksate division finals today marks his third national title in four years. Grant Roberts and Stuart Shinn rounded out the podium, respectively.
“I love winning titles like this and having to defend them,” said Hansen. “It was a tough final for sure, but I’m stoked that I won and now it’s time to celebrate.”
The Jr. Pro Men's division hit the water today for their six-man final with Steel Lafferty taking first place with a score of 96.50, a near 12-point differential from the next closest competitor. Julian Cohen and Daniel Powers rounded out the Jr. Pro Men division podium, respectively. Today's win marks Lafferty's first national title in the Jr. Pro Men division.
The Boys and Jr. Women divisions also wrapped up their riding today with Noah Flegel and Tori Koch claiming their respective division's national title.
Also in the Boys division, Paulie Koch took home the PCM Amateur Best Trick Award for his massive KGB. The Award is a $250 cash prize.
Now that the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships, presented by ROCKSTAR has ended, the top tier riders from each of the 21 divisions will be invited to represent the United States at the WWA Wakeboard World Champions later this year in Orlando, Fla.

Copeland Durham Looks to Bounce Back at Air Nautique WWA Nationals
Sparks, Nev. – Emily Copeland Durham is one the most highly decorated pro female wakeboarders in the world, but in 2009, the Denver native decided to put her career on hold to start a family and give birth to her first born child. Now nearly a year and half since her last professional contest, Copeland Durham returned to the pro wakeboard scene today by hitting the waters of Sparks Marina for the Pro Women’s division quarterfinals at the Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships, presented by ROCKSTAR.
“I’m just excited to be back out on the water, doing what I love,” said Copeland Durham. “The other girls have stepped up their riding so much since I last competed, but I’ve been training and my goal is to finish within the top three in the contest.”
Copeland Durham’s first shot at a triumphant return came today, as she finished second in her heat, advancing onto tomorrow’s semifinals.
“I was a little nervous about riding, but felt I had a good run today,” said Copeland Durham. “Now that I got my first run out of the way, I’m feeling a little more confident going in to tomorrow.”
Should Copeland Durham advance in the semifinals and win her division on Sunday, it will mark her second national title since 2001. Coincidently, Sparks Marina was the site of her last professional win, back in 2008.
The Pro Women will hit the water again tomorrow, July 17 at 11 a.m. for their semifinal round of action.
In addition to the Pro Women’s division, the Air Nautique WWA Nationals hosted 10 other divisions, including five finals. Among the new national titlists are Tyler Worrall, Andrew Scheafer, Tim Clinton, Ricky Gonzalez and Morgan Pederson. All five riders earned invitations to represent the U.S. at the Wakeboard World Championships later this year.
The Air Nautique WWA Wakeboard Nationals, presented by ROCKSTAR will continue tomorrow, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., where the pro divisions will hit the water. Tomorrow is a ticketed event, as is Sunday.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $10 (general admission), $5 (ages 6-12) or free (ages 5 and under).
In addition to all the action on the water; on land, spectators will enjoy great food and music; athlete autograph signings; chances to win freebies; and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores for water-sports equipment including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions.
Also be sure to pick up your share of $10,000 in free gift cards from Overton’s, the official water-sports retailer of the King of Wake series. Fans can also register to win a $500 Overton’s catalog shopping spree.

As most all of you already know, there is an annual contest/party that goes on by the name of Brostock. Liquid Force wakeboards, along with Monster Energy, puts on the biggest wakeboarding event of the year with the biggest prize payout in wakeboarding.
Up until this year, Brostock has taken place at Lake Powell in Utah, but it has moved its way over a few states to Bull Shoals, Arkansas. I had the pleasure of attending Brostock this year for the first time and all I can say is that it definitely goes down exactly how you would imagine it would go down…lots of wakeboarders, lots of yelling, lots of women, lots of double ups and some beer.
The event kicked off Friday night with the meet and greet party at the Bel Arco resort where most of the night festivities took place. The resort was a perfect spot since it had a full bar and restaurant so all the people and fans could come and hang out with the riders. But don’t be fooled. Brostock was still out on the houseboats as well, so it still had its original party funk and wasn’t landlocked the whole time.
Friday night was the night where all of us would find out who we were riding against. Basically, the top seeds from years prior would pull three other names out of a hat to see who will join them in the heat. After that was all said and done, it was definitely time to put the game face on and enjoy the evening.
As the sun started to rise the next morning, our eyelids were slow to follow. However, when they finally did pop open, it was time to get things rollin'. I remember looking out of the houseboat at around 9:00 AM and seeing quite a few boats hanging around getting ready for the action, but since no one was really awake yet, I just joined in on the party and took an “early morning nap” to eventually awaken to what looked like three or four hundred boats all parked in one big open circle! Oh, and Garrett Cortese getting iced. This thing was on! Double up time.
So the rules went like this: First round - 20 riders, three double ups, one right, one left, one of your choice. Top two of each heat move to the next round, which is a head-to-head battle for a spot in a five-man final. There were three judges; Parks Bonifay, Brian Grubb and Tony Smith. Simple right? Negative.
I would hate to be a judge at this one because there were a lot of things thrown down. The first heat consisted of Joey Bradley, Ricky G, James Balzer and Shawn Watson. Joey threw down a huge indy tantrum to blind and a frontside 7, while Ricky G nailed a switch Pete Rose. Making it through to the next round though were James Balzer with a backside 5 and Shawn Watson with a wrapped frontside mute 7.
Rolling in on the second heat was young gun Nick Galotifiore, Ben Greenwood, Aaron “Freedom” Reed and Kevin Henshaw. Ben stuck a massive Pete and came really close to a wrapped, off-axis backside 5, but was cut short by Nick with his frontside 9 and Henshaw with his backside 7.
Splashing in for heat 3 were the brothers Soven, Adam Fields and Mike Ennen. It's happening too often now that Bob and Phil collide in a contest against each other and too often that it comes down to a hard decision. As Adam Fields clearly made it through to the next round with his humongous front mobe 5, it was still a toss-up between the brothers. However, Bob did it again to older brother Phil and walked his gingered ass up to the next round with his toeside 9 besting Phil's wrapped back 7.
Now heat 4 was a little interesting as well with Jimmy LaRiche, Adam Errington, Tom Fooshee and myself. Tom went out first and laid down a heel 7, while Adam followed it up with the most poked out indy glide I have ever seen. Unfortunately, Jimmy and I both kind of choked it after them and didn’t land any of our double ups, which automatically put Adam and Tom to the next round. Hey, these things happen. Party on.
Last, but certainly not least, was heat 5, which had Danny Hampson, Chris O’Shea, Gabe Lucas and Danny Harf. Holy crap, entertainment at its finest! Not only did I get to watch Chris O kill it with his wrapped front 7 and watch my favorite front mobe in the biz from Gabe, but I got to watch Danny Harf land a switch toe 10 right in front of me, making it my first 1080 I got to see in real life. Thanks again for that, Dan. I mean, the thing was perfect!
After the extended party break, it was time to get into the head-to-head semifinals, which were again pulled out of a hat from the top seed of each previous heat. The head to head went; Watson vs. Bob, Nick G vs. Tom, Adam Fields vs. Balzer, Adam Errington vs. Gabe Lucas and Danny Harf vs. Henshaw. Each person got two double ups of their choice. Bob took out Watson, Nick G got a walk in the park since Tom didn’t land any of his, Fields took out Balzer with a big ol’ front mobe, A-train knocked out Gabe with a heel 9 and Danny said goodbye to Henshaw and rode himself into the finals…and then there were five.
As the finals kicked off, all eyes were on the water to see who was going to be crowned the 2010 Brostock champ. In the finals it was back to three double ups per rider again. First off the dock, or I guess I should say houseboat, was Nick Galotifiore. Nick started things off with a switch front 5 and then gave a couple regular heel 10's a shot and came really close, but no cigar.
Next up was Adam Fields who was charging it all day long and just kept the ball rolling for the finals with a Pete 5 and a huge S-bend.
After Adam was Bob who just went for some switch toe 10's every try and came so close that I thought he landed one and was riding away, but, again, no cigar.
Adam "A-train" Errington was up next and he stomped a toe 9 clean as ever on his first hit and then gave the second and third hits some 1080 attempts as well, but couldn’t quite get the board under his feet.
Then it all came down to this guy, Danny Harf. As of this point, Adam Fields was sitting pretty in first place with his Pete 5. Then Danny goes out and falls on his first two hits and brings it all down to the final double up. At this point, everyone was on their feet and rafts biting their finger nails off. Danny came into D-up #3 and landed a toe back 3, but the boat was going really slow so he got a re-ride. On re-ride #1 he falls on a toe back 7. At this point everyone thinks that Adam has done it, but from the boat's standpoint, another re-ride was needed for Danny and it just builds the pressure up even more. But, of course, Danny comes through, pressure and all, to stick a very expensive toe back 7, giving him the W for the second year in a row.
After continuing the Brostock tradition of shooting off a ton of fireworks at each other and a live show from the new hit air band, The Bloody Virgins, it was time to head the houseboats back to Bel Arco resort to do the awards party.
All in all, Brostock was everything I had hoped for and much more and I'm sure next year will be just as crazy, if not crazier. I recommend you be there!
Brostock Double Up Finals
1. Danny Harf
2. Adam Fields
3. Adam Errington
4. Bob Soven
5. Nick Galotifiore
MasterCraft Boat Co. is one Knoxville-area economic indicator that apparently is seeing a turnaround.
And some 175 laid-off MasterCraft employees are feeling relief since the boat maker's recent restructuring prompted their rehiring.
John Dorton, MasterCraft president and CEO, said Tuesday that all rehired employees have been notified, with some starting work Monday and Tuesday, while others begin work today manufacturing boats.
Dorton explained that MasterCraft went from 650 employees last year to 40 this year. By the end of this week the Vonore facility will have 218 employees on the job, he said.
MasterCraft has announced an agreement with a Minnesota-based investment firm to complete a comprehensive restructuring of the company's balance sheet through an out-of-court exchange of its senior secured debt.
The restructuring "significantly reduces the company's debt obligations and provides MasterCraft with ample liquidity to continue designing and manufacturing the world's best luxury sport boats," the company said in a statement.
Jason Boertje, MasterCraft marketing director, said Wayzata Investment Firms LLC has agreed to exchange its MasterCraft bonds into stock, making the investment firm the largest shareholder in MasterCraft. MasterCraft management makes up the other shareholders, Boertje noted.
"The bottom-line is that it (restructuring) leveraged our debt," Boertje said.
Through the restructuring, most of MasterCraft's senior secured bonds are being exchanged into a combination of equity in the company and a manageable revised debt load, which will require little cash debt service going forward, according to the company.
Dorton said MasterCraft's ability to smoothly complete the restructure is evidence of the company's strength.
"The marine industry is enduring an unprecedented period of reduced sales and financial distress," Dorton said in a statement. "Our ability to complete this restructuring out of court and with very little disruption to our customers, dealers and vendors is a testament to the strength of the MasterCraft brand, the loyalty of our customers and dealers, and the dedication of our employees."
Boertje noted that the restructuring closed June 30, the fiscal year end for MasterCraft.
Wayzata's ownership in the company will not affect MasterCraft's product, Boertje said.
"We have worked with them for nearly two years and their desire to move forward with our company as a partner is in large part due to the trust they have in our management team and the boats this team brings to the market," he said in an e-mail. "As a result, they will not be involved in product development - that will remain in the very competent and skilled hands of our management and engineering team."
Dorton said because of lower inventory, orders have increased for their 2010 models and that has led to resumed production at the Vonore facility.
"Our pipeline is considerably healthier today than it was last year," he said. "Today we have zero stock boats at the facility and 35 percent less inventory in our world-wide dealer network."
Due to the lower inventory, dealer orders are slowly increasing for retail-sold 2010 models, and as a result, the company began production of its 2010 models Monday.
Dorton attributed the layoffs earlier this year to a decline in wholesale credit, saying "the atomic bomb that has hit the marine industry is the lack of wholesale floor plan financing."
"Our stance will be to remain very prudent with our production levels in order to ensure the health of our dealer network and to maintain the appropriate supply/demand balance," Dorton said in a statement. "We are taking this opportunity to be both leaner and smarter in all areas of our business, and we are confident that following this restructuring MasterCraft's industry leading liquidity, balance sheet and inventory pipeline will position the company for significant growth when the market recovers."

By now it's no secret that WakeWorld had re-launched with a brand new website that is the most likely source of that puddle of drool on your keyboard. The new WakeWorld is all about YOU, the reader, and that's why we've added a full community with the ability to upload photos and video, network with friends, join groups, write blogs, post events and polls, rant on the forum and do all those things that the kids are doing online these days!
Because of insecurity brought on by childhood trauma that we'd rather not get into, we didn't feel it was enough to simply ask you to join the WakeWorld family and be our friend based on the cheeky personality that Mommy swears we have to offer. No, we like to overcompensate and, to put it bluntly, buy our friends! So we held a contest that was essentially begging you to be our friend. It turns out that the luckiest of our 15,396 friends is Barry Strauss, who will walk with the grand prize!
Barry is now the proud owner of a 2010 CWBTranscend 138 with a customized WakeWorld graphic on the top and bottom. To go along with this one-of-a-kind collectable, CWB also suited up Barry with a pair of AA bindings from the 2010 CWB line. Also included was a CWB Remington life vest, aProline Faction rope and LGS handle and few pieces of CWBclothing.
But wait, there's more! Barry will also be receiving $500 in cash and 10,000 pointsto spend in the WakeWorld Points Store!!
Thanks so much to all of the WakeWorld members that not only make up the great WakeSpace community, but also participated in this contest (whether you knew it or not) and made it a great one.

This is a big step for wakesurfing and excellent for the athletes,” remarked Mark Overbye, Centurionʼs CMO.
The 2011 World Championships not only offers the richest wakesurfing cash and prize purse but is designed to create a wakesurfing spectacle. With two weeks to go, the points chase is heating up at Texas Ski Ranch in South Central Texas. The inaugural CableWakeboard.com National points chase has brought the Thursday Night showdown to a whole new level. Riders are training and competing harder than ever before to earn a spot in the Points Championship held here in New Braunfels, Texas October 8-10. Riders are currently competing all over the country for a spot to compete at the points championships not only as an individual, but also to represent their home cable park in a team format that will take place simultaneously. While it may mean something more to Texas riders to defend their home lake advantage, teams from seven of the eight other cable parks will also be competing to take home the team championship.
In week three of five, TSR was forced to deal with poor weather brought on by Hurricane Alex, but still saw a field of 46 riders for the Thursday night event. (Down from 61 the week before) The restaurant and bar onsite at TSR are helping to build the event by bringing in a DJ and hosting beer/water pong tournaments to keep the festivities hopping throughout the evening. The riders are not the only group excited about the nationwide event, local media such as the New Braunfels Herald Zeitung and writer Chris Hoffman have embraced the series and are helping to promote wakeboarding to South Central Texas.
TSR would like tho thank the sponsors that have helped put on the weekly showdowns: MasterCraft, Liquid Force, Nike 6.0, Reef, Pro-Tec, Freestyle and Sector 9. To be part of the points championship please email us.
Week 3 Top 10 Highlights:
10 - Tropical Storm Alex (a downgraded hurricane) slowed us down to 46 riders! Not bad between torrential downpours.
9 - Josh Rice continues to defy time and wins Pro, AGAIN! Blake Hess lands a 31-3, not bad for no practice whatsoever.
8 - Riders begin to distance themselves from the competition, until low score gets dropped it seems to be a runaway. Things will change.
